This one-day workshop will be led by professional teaching artist Cat Brantley of Sister Moon Studio. In each of Ms. Cat's classes, students create a vibrant, mixed-media piece of artwork inspired by the day's science concept (ex:animals, plants, life cycles, and other wonders of the natural world). Using a variety of materials such as watercolor paints, pastels, fabric, and more, students will connect science concepts and traditional principles of art to build layered, textured works of art. Ms. Cat introduces specific art elements based on the day's project, as well as new mediums and art techniques. The goal is for students to create a lasting memory of the science concept and art technique through art infusion and a visual, hands-on art project and to build their creative problem solving skills. This class is best suited for children ages 6-10. A caregiver must be present at the garden during class time.
