Charleston is rich in history, and one of the easiest ways to see this is by looking at the architecture of the city. During the 1920s, the American preservation movement began in earnest in Charleston headed by women who saw the value of historic buildings and sites. Learn about these heroic women, the changing architecture of the city, and elements that make buildings historic.
